Drinks giant Coca Cola reduced their fuel costs and carbon footprint by acquiring a new fleet of super fuel efficient STILL RX70 hybrid drive gas / lpg forklift trucks.
Along with some purpose built STILL EK10 specialist warehouse handling equipment, more than 20 new RX 70 forklifts have been supplied on a long term rental basis, incorporating a full maintenance package.
Offering the latest forklift technology, with a unique gas powered electric drive system, the new fleet of counterbalance trucks will help Coca Cola reduce the fuel consumption of their forklifts dramatically, in turn reducing emissions for the benefit of their staff on the site and the environment overall and potentially saving Coca Cola many £1,000’s every year in fuel costs.
These STILL RX70 gas powered ‘green machines’ are used throughout the Coca Cola factory, sometimes with special pallet handing attachments fitted to make the process more efficient. Collectively the forklifts handle all the goods-in materials, move pallets around the factory to support the production and packaging processes and eventually load the millions of litres from Coca Cola’s drinks range the bottling facility produces each year. In a different part of the process, some of the finished goods are diverted to an on-site distribution warehouse where electric powered STILL EK10 order picker trucks, that were specially designed to meet coca Cola’s requirements, are used to make up mixed orders of smaller quantities of products on to pallets which in turn are lifted by the STILL RX70 gas forklifts on to transport for delivery to retailers.
STILL’s products are at the leading edge in our industry and as such are not the cheapest to buy or hire in themselves, however Coca Cola’s investment in Still forklift trucks demonstrates a commitment by them beyond simple up front costs, with the comfort of knowing that by adopting STILL’s hybrid technology they have, when all factors are taken into account, a very low total cost of ownership for their forklift fleet and a reduced carbon footprint with improved green credentials as well, so everyone wins.
